Artist's Statement :

Hand coloured Etching and Aquatints.

In my new work, I am exploring the deconstruction and re-formation of aspects of discarded packaging, prior to recycling. The etchings are a series inspired by cut, shredded packaging and their shapes, textures and patterns.

The sculptural forms I create become the basis for the works.

" The masters of the Japanese tea ceremony used deliberately to drop precious dishes, in order that they might be rebuilt and, thus, be more beautiful than the original. My Japanese porcelain has been repaired with gold, which streaks like lightning across the shattered plate " Gwyneth Lewis, Sunbathing in the Rain.

After studying at St. Martin's School of Art (BA) and The Central School of Art (MA), Susan worked in London, before moving to the West Country, where she continues to live and work. Her paintings and etchings are regularly selected for Open Competition Exhibitions, including the RA Summer Exhibition, London and the RWA, Bristol. Her work is to be found in collections in the UK, France, Spain, Australia and the USA.
