Susan Gradwell is a Painter and Printmaker based in Wookey, Wells, Somerset.

She has been printing with her Rollaco press for many years and is now using a larger bed Bewick & Wilson 610 press.

One of the etching techniques she uses is known as Chine Collé ; this involves printing over an extra layer between the paper & the inked plate. This can be gold leaf, metal leaf or tissue paper. for example. Because of this, none of the prints in an edition are absolutely identical, as is usually the case with traditional etching.

Susan spent her childhood in rural Derbyshire before moving to West Sussex. After completing the Foundation Course at Worthing Art College, she went to St. Martin's School of Art, London, gaining a BA, before going on to the Central School of Art in London, where she obtained an MA.
